Levitronix® Bearingless Motor Technology

Watch video

Magnetic levitation, also known as MagLev, is a method by which an object is suspended with no support other than magnetic fields. It is used in simple household gadgets or to propel high-speed MagLev trains.

Levitronix® is the first company to introduce the revolutionary bearingless motor technology. It incorporates magnetic levitation in a motor, resulting in a completely free-floating rotor with no mechanical bearing or seals. The rotor position is measured more than 20’000 times per second and controlled by adjusting the magnetic field. This allows for active stabilization of the radial position and rotation. Axial displacement and tilting result in attractive magnetic forces, which pull back the rotor to its original position.

Levitronix® bearingless motors are available in various configurations and designs. From small to large sizes, in unipolar or multipolar rotor design, in temple or flat construction design or in inner or outer rotor design. All bearingless motors have several outstanding features in common such as wear-free operation, no particle generation, and a hermetically sealed design.

This makes Levitronix® bearingless motors ideal when incorporated in products such as:

  • Pumps
  • Fans
  • Mixers
  • Wafer rotation systems
  • Viscometers
  • Any other product where the bearingless motor technology will help improve process yield!
